Suggestive Advertising by Kristen Fife A quick vignette based on a shopping experience my BF and I had on Wednesday. :) Permission granted to archive at the NNpack site, fkfanfic/2, and the archive site. ============================================ Natalie walked through the Sears at Eaton Center, Nick trailing behind her with a bemused look on his face. When he had offered to pick her up for work that night, she had said she needed to stop to get a few things for her niece. A “few” things. She had an armful of things, as did he. She had neglected to mention that she was helping Sara babysit fifteen pre-adolescent girls at a slumber party. Or that she had offered to provide “party favors”. Nick’s ideas of “party favors” obviously didn’t even come close to what a young girl in twentieth-century Toronto would find appealing. Finally, they took all of the baby pink, powder blue, and lavender items to the cash wrap. As they were standing there, Natalie glanced over at a display of fuzzy socks. She walked over and started laughing. Nick glanced over at her as she picked up a pair and brought it to their place in line. She held them up to him and he read the tag: “I’m warm and soft. Feel me.” His eyebrow rose a bit, then Natalie’s comment had them in his hairline. “What slutty socks these are!” “NAT!” The clerk behind the counter looked at her, a shocked look on her teenaged face. Her eyes still twinkling, Natalie put them on top of the pile. “Well, they are.” She leaned into him and whispered into his ear. “How would you take it if I said to you, ‘I’m warm and soft Nick…feel me…’?” Shocked yet feeling his fangs itching in arousal and his eyes trying to turn a molten gold, he turned his face away and shut his eyes. With supreme effort he got his reactions under control. “Um, I see what you mean. I, uh, guess it’s all in context.” She reached her hand up and stroked his cheek, leaving a hot trail on his skin which threatened to break his tenuous control. He grabbed her hand before she pulled it away, and turned his lips to her palm, allowing her to feel his fangs scrape across them momentarily. He looked in her eyes, his own blazing with golden sparks deep within. “Good thing you don’t have a tag on you inviting all sorts of advances. I’m not sure either of us would be able to deal with the consequences.” Natalie’s heart sped up, her skin flushed and he could smell her arousal as he let go her hand. She swallowed. “Uh, yeah, It’s probably a good thing.” Just then the clerk piped up. “Will that be all, M’am?” Shaking her head, Natalie turned back and pulled her credit card out. Nick just smiled. "The price for this gift is the darkness of the night, and the blood of humanity to sustain you." -THICKER THAN WATER, Kristen Fife in progress See my blog at http://spaces.msn.com/members/landinn/
